Britain has not yet made a final decision on whether to introduce new rules for those arriving in the country from China, but the issue is now “under review,” according to Defense Secretary Ben Wallace. The head of the Ministry of Defense also noted that the government will most likely listen to the recommendations of doctors and, probably, after some time will still resort to some kind of restrictive measures for those arriving from China. The decision will be made jointly by several departments: the Department for Transport (DfT), the Home Office and the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC).
Meanwhile, just the day before, the British government announced that it did not plan to introduce any Covid restrictions, as a number of other countries had done, because there was “no evidence” that Britain was again at risk of a new wave of the pandemic.
Recall that this week several countries, including Italy and the United States, announced mandatory testing of travelers from China, where the number of cases of the disease is rapidly growing after Beijing’s decision to end its “zero Covid” policy.
