Music Saves the World: concert in support of Ukrainian refugee musicians to be held in London

25.10.2023Editorial

Music Saves the World is an international collective of musicians united for peace and harmony. The project's concerts, held in many different parts of the world, serve as a beacon of cohesion in an era of contradictions. Through music, together with musicians and audiences, the project manages to accumulate support for talented refugee musicians and music schools affected by war and conflict.

For an upcoming concert in London, Music Saves the World has teamed up with World Heart Beat, a cultural charity founded by Sahana Hero, Commander of the Order of the British Empire.

The concert will take place on November 3, 2023 and will be held at World Heart Beat Embassy Gardens (Nine Elms). It will feature pianist Vladislav Kuznetsov, psaltery performer Olga Glazova, electroacoustic project Synecdoche Montauk, pianist and composer Fyodor Biryuchev, and British composer Gabriel Prokofiev and his ensemble.

Ticket proceeds will support refugee musicians from Ukraine under the care of World Heart Beat.

This eclectic event will present a unique constellation of talented and stylistically diverse musicians. Pianist Fedor Biryuchev will perform his own works inspired by the spirit of Romanticism and filled with both tenderness and deep expressiveness. Olga Glazova will demonstrate the art of playing traditional psaltery, one of the oldest Russian multi-stringed plucked instruments. Pianist Vladislav Kuznetsov will perform the famous 1988 work Metamorphoses by minimalist composer Philip Glass. Synecdoche Montauk, the project of London-based Moscow musician Savva Rozanov, will present a special acoustic set filled with poetry on themes of identity and an ephemeral sense of nostalgia. At the end of the evening Gabriel Prokofiev, composer and producer of classical and electronic music, will perform an electronic set together with members of his newly formed band: Gabriel Prokofiev Ensemble.

The Music Saves the World project was founded by Maria Semushkina, cultural entrepreneur and producer, founder of the international festival “Usadba Jazz”.
