Arctic Monkeys
The list of top local hitmakers is opened by Arctic Monkeys. Their popularity in Britain began to grow after the release of their first album Whatever People Say I Am, That’s Not What I Am in 2006, and they became world famous after the launch of AM seven years later. The band’s most listened to tracks remain ‘Are U Mine?’, ‘I Wanna Be Yours’, ‘Do I Wanna Know?’, ‘505‘ and others. Almost all of them are variations of rock – with touches of indie, psychedelic and alternative.

The official website also has no information about tours or individual concerts scheduled for 2025.
D-Block Europe
The second spot on the chart is occupied by ‘Overseas’, a song released by hip-hop collective D-Block Europe, known as DBE. The group emerged in 2014, and tracks released in 2017 brought them only relative fame. But DBE’s popularity continued to grow after the release of the album ‘The Blue Print: Us vs. Them’ In 2020.
Their position in the UK chart was secured in 2022 with the album ‘Lap 5’ and the song ‘Science Rocket‘. The track ‘Prada’ became the number one most popular song simultaneously in Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden and Ireland. Today, the band is listened to by over 13 million people every month.
Central Cee
It is impossible not to mention the work of Central Cee, the British singer who co-wrote the song ‘Overseas’, which is at number two in the UK top, and who also influenced DBE’s recognizability. His solo single ‘Let Go’ reached number eight.
Central Cee’s initial popularity came with 2020’s tracks‘Day in the Life’ and ‘Loading’. However, the real breakthrough was ‘Doja’, released in 2022. It became the most listened to track in British rap history on Spotify and stayed in the chart for 10 weeks. Today, the number of listens to his tracks reaches 25 million per month. No concerts are planned for the near future, but the singer announced the release of a studio album early next year.
Coldplay
No less significant contribution to the development of musical culture was made by the band Coldplay. Founded in 1997 in London, the band changed its name three times. At the beginning of the century, the band released their debut album ‘Parachutes’, which brought them worldwide fame. Coldplay received awards from Brit Awards and Grammy Awards. The band continued to grow and fans around the world sang their songs ‘Hymn for the Weekend’, ‘Sky Full of Stars’, ‘Viva La Vida’. In 2018, director M. Whitecross made a movie about the band’s career, ‘Coldplay: A Head Full of Dreams‘, and in 2023, American magazine Time named the members as leaders in the fight for climate change.
Today, the song ‘Feelslikeimfallinginlove’ is ranked number three with 92 million monthly listens. See them live on the Music of the Spheres tour in 2025. Concerts in London will take place on August 22, 23, 26, 27, 30, 31, and September 3, 4, and 7. Apparently, it is the excitement caused by the fact that the band is ending its activity that influenced the fact that tickets on the official website are already completely sold out.
Charli XCX
Charli XCX, an English singer born in Cambridge, is one of the breakthroughs of the year. Her career began in 2008, but recognition came after her joint song with Iggy Azalea ‘Fancy’, which became the most listened to song in 2014 and was nominated for a Grammy. Charlotte’s work has expanded to the US, and from 2022 to the UK and Australia. In 2023 she released the song ‘Speed Drive’ for the movie Barbie.
This summer’s album ‘Brat’, as well as her collaboration ‘Guess’ with Billie Eilish, was a real sensation. An award from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publicists (ASCAP) and her status as one of the most important artists in Asia show the importance of the role Charli has played in the development of pop culture.
